1. A man ought to die for duty and Principles according to Rizal. Do you agree with his idea? Support your answers by citing two examples.
- Rizal holds fast to every idea about the future of his country, and shall willingly die for it, and even more willingly to sacrifice all to secure our justice and peace. I do agree with him, since a man with principles and duty are willingly to sacrifice everything in him just to achieve his goals. Rizal is man of principle, and he died with his principles.
2. What Values did Rizal manifest in the letter he wrote prior to his execution? Support you answer.
- From what I had read in the book about the letters of Rizal prior his executions, he manifests the values of being a rationalist. He justifies his being an innocent man from all accusations to him by his reasons. Rizal is a man full of reasons. It is evident that he is such an intelligent man.
3. Did Rizal die a Catholic or a Mason? Justify your answer.
- Base on what I have heard, this topic was still on a debate. But if were to ask about this, he died both as a Catholic and a Mason. Since Rizal can be both. He can be a Mason because we all know that Rizal is a rationalist. He relies on his reasons alone. And he joined Masonry for some reasons that the organization can help him from his struggles in the Spanish regimes. He can also be a Catholic at the same time because he believed in God. To make it simple, Rizal is a Mason by reasons and a Catholic by faith.
4. If you were Rizal, would you do what he did when confronted with a threat to your own security and your family as well? Why or why not?
- For practical reasons, I wouldn’t do what he did. I would just keep quiet and go to whatever road leads me. It is because; I don’t like bad things to happen to my family. And I will protect my family to my last blood.
Prove or contradict the following statements. Limit your answer into 4-7 sentences only. (5 points each).
1. What a Mother is, so should her son become?
- There is a saying that goes “kung ano ang itinanim ‘yon ang bunga”. The attitude of a mother reflects also the attitude of her child. It just clearly says that anything that a mother does her child can follow it because what does the child sees, it follows that the child imitates it.
2. Ignorance is bondage because like mind, like man.
- A man without will of his own is a man without personality. The blind who follows other’s opinion is like a beast led by a halter. It clearly states that without our own will we are just like a man with no identity. It is wiser to have our own opinion than to just always agree on what other people’s idea.
3. The country cannot expect honor and prosperity as long as the education of the child is defective.
- As a student, I firmly believe that education is the backbone of nation. Since education can be a building blocks in the development of our country. Once the education of the child is defective, our country can never expect honor and prosperity. And so I advocate for learners success not just n school but also in their communities.
4. Rizal is a Reluctant Revolutionary.
- In my own opinion, Rizal is not a reluctant revolutionary. He may not be one of the katipuneros who fought with their bloods just to free us from Spaniards. But he revolutionize by using his intellect and with his pen. We all know that Rizal is not a man of war; instead he is a man of peace. He opened every Filipinos eyes against the Spanish oppressions with his writings.
